Volunteer: Kids Club Assistant

Be part of the Kids Club team and spend time with the children of the families we serve. Help be a positive light in the lives of children in our community. See below the tasks, qualifications, and requirements for this volunteer role. 

Requirements: 

An online volunteer applicationA background check Training determined by Kids Club Coordinator 
Teacher Aide Tasks:Assist the Coordinator by following prepared session plans and setting up necessary materials for classes, such as arts and crafts, educational tools, writing utensils, and snacks.Ensure that classrooms are safe, clean, organized, and tidy.Help track student attendance and class schedules.Assist with student check-in/out and name tags.Work with individual children who have learning challenges or special needs.Work with small groups of students to enhance and reinforce the learning process.Escort and supervise children in the playground and garden.Assist with various tasks, such as being a runner and escorting children to and from outdoor activities or from the lobby/reception area to the Kids Club classroom.Help children adjust, learn, and socialize, and report to teachers about possible behavioral issues.Use a walkie-talkie for communication.


Qualifications:Preference for bilingual in Spanish.Previous experience in a classroom setting within an educational, community-based, or church environment.Proficiency in childcare administrative tasks, learning methods, and technology.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Calm and positive demeanor.A kind and compassionate yet firm personality.Passion for teaching and the ability to develop strong, trusting relationships with children, staff, parents, and the community.Willingness to work with supervision and collaborate with fellow program leaders/volunteers.Ability to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods may be required.
